British rockers Status Quo are releasing a special charity single for charity.

The band – who appeared on Band Aid’s Do They Know It’s Christmas and were recently awarded OBE’s for their charity work – will release a new version of their song In The Army Now to raise funds for British armed forces charities, such as Help for Heroes.

“We want people to celebrate what they do, say thank you and also support these vital charities,” said Francis Rossi. “It seemed like the right time to do this. This release is intended to show our support for the Allied Forces around the world, but in particular, of course, the British Armed Forces.”

The song was originally released in 1986, and the new version – which features the Corps of Army Music – will come out on September 26.
