PETA supporter Martha Stewart has sent a letter to New York Mayor Bill de Blasio asking for an independent investigation into the recent mysterious death of a horse in the carriage industry.

“Would you ask the Department of Health to investigate and share the results of a necropsy?” wrote Martha. “The investigation needs to be independent, using a veterinarian who isn’t paid by the carriage industry. We need to know the truth about how Tickles was treated and if he received the proper care before and after his injury.”

The questionable death occurred at the same stable exposed last year by the Associated Press for switching an old, sick horse’s ID with that of a young horse in order to keep him working.
