In celebration of Prince's birthday on Tuesday, PETA is honoring the music icon’s vegan legacy by offering a free download of “Animal Kingdom,” a song he donated to the organization, which is available now on PETA.org through June 7, the day he was born.

Mayte Garcia, who was married to Prince and worked with him throughout the ‘90s, will also co-host a party at PETA’s Los Angeles office, the Bob Barker Building, on Tuesday to celebrate the launch with Russell Simmons, Pamela Anderson, Moby, Tony Kanal, and Belinda Carlisle, among others.

“Prince didn’t want to celebrate birthdays but [rather] live life to elevate and educate to the next level of enlightenment,” Garcia says. “My mission every June 7 is not only to celebrate his birth but also, with PETA, to remember this man by making June 7 a day where Prince fans go vegan to see how much better they feel and to honor his kind legacy. PETA has a veg pledge on their site to make it really easy. It all begins this June 7, when we get together to share our love for Prince and to release the incredible song he donated to PETA — ‘Animal Kingdom’ — as a free download at PETA.org. Prince said, ‘Compassion is an action word with no boundaries,’ and that’s our message with this campaign, which everyone can participate in.”

The quirky tune shows how passionate Prince was about vegan living and the chorus reveals the depth of his commitment to animal rights:
No member of the animal kingdom nurses past maturity
No member of the animal kingdom ever did a thing 2 me
It’s why I don’t eat red meat or white fish
Don’t give me no blue cheese
We’re all members of the animal kingdom
Leave your brothers and sisters in the sea

Prince also used PETA as a resource for information, and in his Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic album liner notes, he proudly told fans that he shunned wool because of the cruelty to sheep.
