After performing a cover of “Blue Christmas” last week at the White House, The Lumineers have released the track to download.

The Denver-based band will donate all proceeds from “Blue Christmas” to Cool Earth.

The grammy-nominated indie rock band announced their festive gift on social media on 3rd December. The band’s breakthrough was their number one single “Hey Ho” and they released their second studio album, “Cleopatra” earlier this year.

“I grew up listening to Willie Nelson’s xmas album “Pretty Paper” and this was always my favourite song on it," said Wesley Schultz. “Of any Christmas song out there, this one stands out to me as a truly good song, Christmas or not. All proceeds from our cover will be donated to Cool Earth, an organisation that works alongside indigenous villages to halt rainforest destruction.”

Cool Earth has harnessed the knowledge and ideas of indigenous people to save nearly a million acres of rainforest. This Christmas they are raising money to share those ideas even further so they can save more rainforest than ever in 2017. You can donate to their Christmas campaign here.

“Blue Christmas” is available to download now on iTunes and is streaming on Spotify and other platforms.
