Madonna has reportedly sent boxes of clothes belonging to her 3-year-old son, David Banda, back to his former orphanage in Malawi.

Contacts at the orphanage have confirmed that a package labeled “From David Ritchie to friends at Home of Hope” was received, but were unable to confirm that it came from Madonna.

“We have lots of friends across the globe who send us stuff from time to time,” Lucy Chipeta, director of the orphanage, told People.com.

The package included clothes, children’s books – including autographed copies of Madonna’s children’s book, English Roses – and a selection of toys.

“These are clothes David can no longer use; they say he is quite a big boy now so he cannot use most of the clothes Madonna bought him immediately after he was adopted,” a source told People.com. “The children were excited to receive the clothes.”

“Home of Hope” is the working name for Mchinji Mission Orphanage, one of the largest children’s homes in Malawi. Since it was founded in 1997 it has provided hope and a new life for 500 children who have lost one or both parents. More information about how you can help the orphanage can be found at its website.
