Singer Carrie Underwood's rendition of Motley Crue's Home Sweet Home – heard every week on American Idol as contestants are voted off the show – is to be released as a single, with proceeds going to charity.

“I’ve always loved this song, and besides being very fitting for Idol, to me, the title is also very fitting with animal rescue and finding animals their own homes,” said Underwood. "So we felt it was important to tie the release into an amazing animal charity like The Humane Society. "

Established in 1954, the Humane Society of the United States is the nation’s largest and most effective animal protection organization—backed by 10 million Americans. Their aim is a humane and sustainable world for all animals, and the organization has become a formidable force against cruelty, exploitation and neglect.

“Home Sweet Home” will be available as a digital single exclusively on iTunes through March 16, when it can be purchased at online music retailers everywhere.
