Joe McElderry

Joe is an ambassador for the Teenage Cancer Trust, and performed a concert for the patients at the Newcastle unit, which was broadcast in all the other units nationwide via the internet.
He ran the Great North Run half marathon in 2010 and 2011 for the Trust, raising about £10,000 each time.

The singer has performed a number of concerts to benefit charities as well, including the Ray of Sunshine charity concert, a concert for Josie’s Dragonfly Trust.

He took part in the Comic Relief twitter campaign, auctioning off the chance to be ‘followed by a star’, and allowed himself to be auctioned off on QVC for Breast Cancer Care.

McElderry took part in the Helping Haiti single cover of “Everybody Hurts” arranged by Simon Cowell.
