Jake Gyllenhaal, Adam Driver and Joanne Tucker, Seth Meyers and Alexi Ashe, Anthony Edwards, Lili Taylor, David Strathairn and more came together last week in New York City for The Headstrong Project’s Words of War, a benefit in support of comprehensive mental healthcare for military veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan.

The evening featured a seated dinner and a Theater of War performance from Fujito featuring Anthony Edwards and Lili Taylor. A poetry reading of Derrick Brown’s You Will Be Destroyed in Your Own Way was read by Jake Gyllenhaal.

The Headstrong Project has launched a long term project to provide cost-free, stigma-free, and bureaucracy-free mental healthcare to Iraq and Afghanistan veterans with care being delivered at Weill Cornell Medical College.

This program brings together leading research scientists and clinicians in PTSD to develop a manual, treatment program, curriculum, and certification program to train, develop, implement, and fund a nationwide network of mental healthcare providers who can treat Iraq and Afghanistan veterans especially in rural areas outside the reach of the VA.
