Celebrities offered their support for the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Greater Alarm Gala in Hollywood. This event was held in the week of September 11th in remembrance of the numerous firefighters who lost their lives.

Astronaut and In the Shadow of the Moon star Buzz Aldrin was in attendance, and Crossing Jordan star Steven Valentine conducted the live auction. Among the the unique auction items were fire helmets signed by an assortment of famous people including Sylvester Stallone, Jay Leno, Kevin Eubanks, Buzz Aldrin, Phyllis Diller, The Los Angeles Dodgers, Stan Lee, James Caan, Cheech Marin. and some cast members of NBC’s Heroes.

The Heroes cast signed and dedicated their helmet to “The Real Heroes”. Members of the cast of Wicked performed a duet as a video montage played saluting LAFD fire fighters.

The proceeds from the event support the Fallen Firefighters Memorial for the purpose of creating and maintaining the LAFD Firefighter Museum and Memorial, as well as providing children’s fire safety programs.
