Rapper Master P and his son Romeo will launch their school tour to end childhood obesity in LA today.

The father and son were named as ambassadors for It's Time Kids – an organization that is dedicated to getting inner-city youth on the right track mentally and physically – earlier this month.

“Making Romeo Miller our national spokesperson is the perfect fit,” said Lisa Stewart, a representative for It’s Time Kids. “He’s a superstar entertainer, college student and athlete who loves education and kids. With all of this going on, Romeo takes time out of his busy schedule to exercise regularly and eat right, so that he can maintain his healthy and fit physique. He’s a great example of hard work pays off.”

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 67% of adults are overweight or obese and the epidemic is being spread to the young generation. In 2001, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry estimated that between 16 and 33 percent of children and adolescents were obese. With the number of people who are overweight or obese increasing in America, educating the youth and their families on the importance of maintaining healthy eating habits and a physically active lifestyle is crucial in reducing those numbers.

The pair will travel throughout the US to raise awareness of childhood obesity and promote exercise and healthy living, starting today at 9am at 61st Street Elementary School, 6020 South Figueroa Street, LA.
