The Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania (GSEP) is celebrating the 100th Anniversary milestone of Girl Scouts of the USA this year with the help of Sophia Bush.

Bush will host the “Century of the Girl” Expo, to be held April 21-22 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. The event will feature a “Girl Party” headlined by superstars Diggy Simmons and Veronica Ballestrini. Other influential speakers will include charity:water Founder and Change Agent Scott Harrison, United Nations VP of Global Partnerships Elizabeth Gore and Pencils of Promise Founder and Executive Director Adam Braun.

“We are excited to welcome these influential celebrities, who join us and local leaders in our 100th anniversary celebrations,” said GSEP CEO Natalye Paquin. “The ‘Century of the Girl’ Expo will be a fun, educational and empowering event for girls in our area, and we want girls everywhere to know they are welcome at the celebration.”

Sophia Bush is looking forward to her pivotal role during the girl-focused weekend. “I am honored to host the upcoming ‘Century of the Girl’ Expo,” said Bush. “I hope to enable young girls to harness their unique importance, find their voice and realize the power of YOU.”

Party Like a Rock Star

Girls attending the Expo may gain access to the “Girl Party” April 21 at 6:30 p.m. which will feature live performances by Diggy Simmons and Veronica Ballestrini. Simmons, the son of “Reverend Run” DMC, is a hip-hop artist and successive BET’s 106th & Park countdown champion. With Billboard chart singles “Copy, Paste,” and the Jeremiah-featured “Do It Like You,” whose video boasts over 3 million YouTube views, Simmons is a world-wide musical sensation. Veronica Ballestrini, is an American country pop singer-songwriter, musician and actress. Her self-made success story caught national attention after winning a songwriting contest with the world famous microphone manufacturer Sennheiser. Girls who attend the “Girl Party” will learn the latest dance moves along with Simmons, Ballestrini and a rockin’ DJ.

Weekend Workshops
In addition to the “Girl Party,” the Expo boasts a weekend full of activities for girls of all ages, and offers an opportunity for both Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts to learn and have fun. Mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles and everyone in between are invited to attend with the young girls in their lives, for the unique opportunity to enjoy a variety of interactive exhibits. Notable speakers in addition to Sophia Bush, Scott Harrison, Elizabeth Gore and Adam Braun include: WNBA President Laurel Richie, Donna Fenn, the author of Upstarts! How GenY Entrepreneurs are Rocking the World of Business, Erica Domesek, founder, creator, and author of P.S.- I Made This…, and others.

Workshops for girls and adults will include focuses like “Find Your Voice,” “Be Your Own Boss: It’s Easier Than You Think,” “Everyday Environmental Stewardship” and “Science + Technology + You = Fabulous! – What You Can Learn from Science and Tech Rock Stars.” To learn more about the EXPO and to register, click here.
