Oxfam has welcomed the appointment of British prime minister David Cameron as joint chair of the United Nations panel that will recommend what should replace the Millennium Development Goals after they expire in 2015.

Barbara Stocking, Oxfam Chief Executive, said: "We are delighted David Cameron will be co-chairing the Panel with the Presidents of Liberia and Indonesia, brining views from developed, developing and emerging economies together.

“We hope that the Panel will make sure that it finds ways to listen to the voices of the poorest people in the world.”
