The U.S. Fund for UNICEF and multi-Grammy Award-winning band Maroon 5 have announced the launch of #Maroon5Day, an annual campaign to celebrate the universal messages of music and philanthropy and help raise awareness about UNICEF’s work for children around the world.

This year’s inaugural event will coincide with the fourteen-year anniversary of the release of Maroon 5’s first album Songs About Jane.

From Monday, June 20 to Saturday, June 25, fans will be encouraged to make donations to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF and share their stories about giving back on their social media channels, using hashtags #Maroon5Day and #childrenfirst. On Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25, the band will match each gift made by fans to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF up to $25,000. The funds raised will support UNICEF programs providing children in need with health care and immunizations, clean water and sanitation, nutrition, education, emergency relief and more.

“We are excited to celebrate our music and fans while giving back in a meaningful way,” said Maroon 5. “Music transcends borders and brings people together by drawing out our common sense of humanity, and we invite our fans to join us in that same spirit to help UNICEF put children first in 190 countries around the world.”

“We are thrilled to partner with Maroon 5 as they harness the power of their music and fans to champion the cause of children and support UNICEF’s lifesaving work,” said Caryl M. Stern, president and CEO of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. “It is our hope that the passion and commitment the band brings in equal measure to their music and charitable endeavours will inspire others to help UNICEF save and improve the lives of the world’s most vulnerable children.”

Fans who make a donation to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF between Monday, June 20 and Saturday, June 25 will automatically be entered to win two VIP tickets to a Maroon 5 concert of their choice in the U.S.
