The Today Show’s Al Roker is set to take part in this year’s annual Lend A Hand Today initiative, which sees the show’s stars travel across America to visit charities that help their communities.

Al’s trip starts on June 21 in San Francisco before heading to Bozeman (Montana), Des Moines (Iowa), Memphis (Tenn.) and Rye (NH). Each stop will see the star broadcast from one of the city’s charities, and each charity will also be presented with a special gift.

“There were a lot of smaller charities that were really hurting, and we asked, ‘Can we do something to help,’” said Roker. “Part of our job, I think, is to give back,” he said. “We can’t help but feel good about going to smaller communities throughout the nation. … It’s really the smaller charities that do the bulk of the work.”

This is the ninth year the initiative has been run.
