Matthew McConaughey has put his name to an email sent to supporters of the Lance Armstrong Foundation, calling his friend and fellow Texan “one tough hombre.”

“I’m proud to stand with him in his commitment to support people fighting cancer,” he says in the email. "This LIVESTRONG Day will be the 16th anniversary of his cancer diagnosis. And man, what a journey it’s been—he’s one tough hombre.

“Let’s help Lance make this LIVESTRONG Day the biggest outpouring of support for cancer survivors the world’s ever seen. You in?

“Join me and Lance and add your message today. It’ll be automatically shared on LIVESTRONG Day as part of this historic global outpouring of support.

“I just finished sharing my own message for all the courageous people fighting cancer around the world. All my fans and followers are going to see it on LIVESTRONG Day—October 2—alongside who knows how many thousands of other messages from folks like you.

“If you haven’t already, add yours today. Write one for someone in your life. Or write one for the 28 million people battling cancer right this minute.

“Whoever you write it for, you’ll help send a powerful message all around the world come October 2. Here’s the link: LIVESTRONGDay.org

“Thanks for stepping up and doing your part to make this thing happen right.

“In the meantime and all times, just keep livin’ strong.”
