Animal activists were out in force at the Beverly Hilton on Saturday, March 20, for The Humane Society of the United States' 24th annual Genesis Awards.

Stars such as Kristen Bell, Pierce Brosnan, Emily Deschanel, Jon Lovitz, Ginnifer Goodwin, Teri Hatcher, Tricia Helfer, Carrie Ann Inaba, Maria Menounos and many more were on hand to present awards to a variety of celebrities, shows, and activists who have spent the last year making the world a better place for animals. Veteran actress Tippi Hedren received a special lifetime achievement award from her daughter, Melanie Griffith, for her work raising awareness of the exotic pet trade.

The big winners of the night were the films Up, Hotel For Dogs and The Cove. Also picking up awards were an episode of Family Guy that featured animal exploitation issues, and an episode of Bones.

Ellen DeGeneres, who won the major award at last year’s awards, picked up another accolade for her interview with Eating Animals author Jonathon Safran Foer.
