It’s refreshing to see celebrities get glammed up for more than just a red carpet walk or to accept an award. Many stars also go big for the greater good of society. No doubt, celebs like to give back. And the abundance of star-studded charity events happening seemingly every day is proof of that. From environmental causes to child and animal welfare, celebrities feel strongly about their favorite charities.

For example, Leonardo DiCaprio's passion for the environment and educating people on global warming is so strong that it was part of his Oscars speech. Matt Damon is the co-founder of Water.org, a nonprofit organization that has positively transformed more than four million lives around the world through access to safe water and sanitation. Country singer Miranda Lambert took action for her passion for animals by starting her own charity called MuttNation Foundation. This charity aims to end animal cruelty, neglect and homelessness.

With an endless list of celebrity-backed charity events, savoring the high life seems to be celebrities’ favorite way to give back. Caviar and champagne in exchange for saving the world? Sounds like a win-win.

Get the inside scoop

According to the Hollywood Reporter, celebrity charity events come with a specific set of rules. From planning the guest of honor to dealing with party crashers to getting the media there, event planners know which hoops to jump through to make an event a success. And they know how to get the celebrities there – with the promise of good press and freebies. Yes, even the rich and famous enjoy free swag now and then.

But bartenders get, perhaps, the best glimpse of it all by brushing shoulders with celebrities. From learning their go-to drinks to seeing how they tip to getting chummy with them, waiting on celebrities comes with stories that can last a lifetime.

One lucky bartender downed a shot with Indiana Jones and said: "I did a shot with Harrison Ford. Put that on my tombstone."

Drink like a celebrity

If all this glamorous charity event talk makes you want to give back, there are an abundance of charities and worthy causes to devote your time, money and effort to. And if it makes you yearn for the finer things in life, well, you can do that, too. Right in your own home.

You don’t need to be surrounded by the paparazzi to drink like a celeb. Create your very own celebrity-worthy cocktail in your kitchen. Most would agree that the martini is one of the most glamourous and celebrity-loved drinks around (hello, James Bond!). Whether you take it shaken or stirred, dirty or dry, you can drink like a star with this quick video tutorial on how to make the perfect martini.

Not the martini type? How about a Cosmo, a la the Sex and the City gals? Drink like Carrie Bradshaw with this delicious recipe.

It’s no secret that Jennifer Aniston loves a good margarita. Whip up a batch of her favorite libation (with her exact recipe) to enjoy with your friends.

While we may not all be celebrities, you can drink like one. And, more importantly, you can give back to worthy charities of your choice just like the celebs do. Because celebrity or not, everyone is worthy of giving back.

Black tie optional.
