Actor, comedian & author Chris Rock and wife Malaak have teamed up with premiere auction website Charity Folks to raise money for their charity, Journey For Change: Empowering Youth Through Global Service.

Some of the incredible and unique charity packages available to bidders include a “double date” with Chris & Malaak Rock courtside at a New York Knicks game; two VIP tickets to “The Tonight Show” in Los Angeles and a meet-and-greet with host Jay Leno; a day at NBC’s “The Today Show” and a meet-and-greet with Al Roker for four fans; a two person VIP tour of CNN and meet-and-greet with Anchor & Special Correspondent Soledad O'Brien; a one-of-a-kind Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards Bicycle autographed by “Grown Ups” stars Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Kevin James and David Spade and a special personalized special video gift produced by Chris Rock! They are all available at Charity Folks.

“I didn’t get the chance to travel outside of my neighborhood until I was a grown up and telling jokes,” said Rock. “Journey for Change allows kids from my neighborhood in Brooklyn to go to Africa to help those in need and then come back and advocate for change. So I want everyone to bid on these items to help my wife and I help as many kids as possible.”

Journey for Change: Empowering Youth Through Global Service is a unique and innovative partnership between Compton-Rock’s The Angelrock Project, The Salvation Army Greater New York, and The Salvation Army Southern African Territory that originally brought thirty at-risk youth from Chris Rock’s childhood community of Bushwick, Brooklyn to Johannesburg, South Africa in August 2008 for two weeks of global service.

The children, ages 12-15, participated in a rich volunteer, educational and mentoring program. They volunteered in the shanty towns of Diepsloot and Soweto, helping orphaned and vulnerable children and grannies in their homes, schools, community centers, orphanages, clinics and in their gardens. They also received education about the diverse culture of the country from the South African Tourism board.

The next global volunteer trip is scheduled for August 2010, and will take youth from the Bushwick, Brownsville, and Bedford-Stuyvesant Salvation Army Community Centers, as well as 15 college aged mentors from NYU, Pratt Institute, and Medgar Evers College.

The proceeds earned from this auction will help to fund the next global service trip as well as advocacy, service, and educational activities for the original group of 30 children.
