Last week, some of Hollywood’s most outspoken comics teamed up for a benefit for the most outspoken animal rights group, PETA.
Stand-Up for Animals featured sets by Bill Maher, Jane Lynch, Fred Willard, Carol Leifer, late-night favorite Marc Maron, “Roastmaster General” Jeffrey Ross, and other special guests at the legendary Comedy Store.
“Before PETA was around, you know, you could f-ck with animals any way, anybody, anytime, anywhere, and now you can’t,” headliner Bill Maher said during his set Wednesday night. “That’s a pretty big change in the world. That’s a big achievement. … Animals will not be ignored. They’re the Glenn Close of species.”
Proceeds from the benefit—including purchases from a special “veganized” version of The Comedy Store’s menu—will go toward PETA’s work to stop animal abuse.
Other celebrity guests in attendance included Pink, Carey Hart, Olivia Munn, Cloris Leachman, Jorja Fox, Seth MacFarlane, Joel Kinnaman, Christian Serratos, Elisabetta Canalis, Emily Osment, Renee Olstead, Sarah Bolger, Moby, Jillian Reynolds, Kate del Castillo, Rain Phoenix, Diane Warren, Frances Fisher, and more.
