Humanitarian, public servant, founder of the Peace Corps and architect of Lyndon Johnson’s War on Poverty, Shriver was instrumental in the formation of numerous charities and organizations dedicated to the betterment of life.

He founded or was a key supporter of organizations and programs such as Head Start, Job Corps, VISTA, Community Action, Upward Bound, Foster Grandparents, Legal Services, the Shriver Center, Indian and Migrant Opportunities, and Neighborhood Health Services.

His wife, Eunice Kennedy founded the Special Olympics, for which he served as President, Chairman of the Board and Chairman.

Sargent Shriver has passed away, but we remember his charity work.
