Charity biography
According to the Born Free Foundation website : Rachel Hunter "first contacted Born Free in 2000, and made an almost immediate 40-hour dash from the US to Africa, in a desperate bid to raise public awareness and funds for gorillas.
Unable to gain secure access into Kahuzi Biega National Park in the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo, the park’s 6,000 km range being 95% under rebel control, Rachel and the Born Free team, led by world gorilla authority Ian Redmond, traveled 10 hours south west from Entebbe, Uganda, into the Virunga mountains.
Since that dramatic first experience, Rachel has returned to Africa, to the Limbe Wildlife Centre in Cameroon to visit rescued primates and continues to be a great advocate for Born Free. “I feel passionately about protecting the natural world and with Born Free my support gets real results”
