Underwood co-founded Artists for a New South Africa.

In 1993, Blair recieved the Humanitarian Award for his work with the Los Angeles chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

He served as a spokesperson for YouthAIDS.

Underwood is on the Board of Governors of Love Our Children USA, and appeared in a public service announcement for the Fulfillment Fund.
